Arts & Culture

Cartier’s raison d’être is intertwined with arts & culture, standing out with its creations and revealing beauty wherever it may lie. It prompts the Maison to value and support the power of original creation and share our passion for artistic and creative talent, spanning from artisanal craftsmanship to contemporary art, from architecture to music.

To name a few initiatives, the Collection Cartier, our patrimonial collection of jewelry, timepieces and precious objects, has been exhibited for almost 40 years in the most prestigious museums of the world. Since 1984, The Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain has been both a creative space for artists and a place dedicated to promoting and raising public awareness of contemporary art. Finally, Cartier also supports and collaborates with a strong and diverse community of artists, including extraordinary talents from the world of music.

JADE & MURIEL

International Retail Arts & Culture team, France

With 11 years at Cartier, Jade led different missions, from Visual Merchandising to the International Retail Arts & Culture team, where she now supports regions to deploy their projects while also collaborating with musical artists.

Muriel explored many facets of Cartier during her 35 years in the Maison. From finance to marketing, Muriel is now a Project Manager in the International Retail Arts & Culture team, in charge of transversal topics.

I enjoy learning continually alongside our artists, who have been known to be unpredictable! We never rest on our laurels, we’re always coming up with new ways of doing things, we test and we hone.

Muriel

Can you tell us more about your role?

Jade: I’ve been supporting and fostering a community of musicians, who produce shows and concerts reflecting Cartier’s values and philosophies, for almost five years now. I make sure that the productions are in line with the market strategy and thereby contribute to boosting the Maison’s influence and its brand equity.
My role involves listening, producing, coordinating, budget management and developing an Art & Culture strategy.

Muriel: My role is multidisciplinary; I’m in charge of financial and legal frameworks, and our collaboration with artists, the network and our partners and service providers. I devise and draft tailor-made contracts for image rights, assessing intellectual property issues and financing projects. I also raise awareness among staff about certain topics: creating e-learning tools, ensuring they are disseminated internally and organising music events.

What part of your mission are you most passionate about?

Jade: I’m lucky enough to encounter lots of people from many walks of life. Artists of course, who generously share their worldviews with me, but also cultural institutions, event production and recording partners, photographers and, of course, employees of the Maison.

Muriel: I enjoy learning continually alongside our artists, who have been known to be unpredictable! We never rest on our laurels, we’re always coming up with new ways of doing things, we test and we hone. You have to adapt and be flexible and reactive to changes, even sudden ones. Working with our markets is just as engaging, we have to adapt to their needs while remaining consistent.

What do you love about the way of working at Cartier?

Jade: The Maison Cartier has a rich history, heritage, people, expertise, and diverse capabilities. Cartier is a Maison that maintains a constant dialog with the world.

Muriel: La Maison Cartier challenges us and stimulates us intellectually, helping us to grow. It prompts us to try things out in order to innovate; so we have plenty room for expression. This is why I have been with Cartier for 35 years.

Which other teams do you work with?

Jade: I work in close collaboration with the corporate communication, events, VIP customer care departments and the High Jewelry business committee. The network of Art & Culture representatives in the markets are my main points of contact, along with the Marketing-Communication, Retail and market managers.

Muriel: Personally, I work with Learning and Development, the Human Resources department, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Internal Communication and our international markets. It’s really interesting and every area of expertise brings us so much.

What was the most memorable moment in your Cartier journey?

Jade: Watching the rehearsals for a concert was an unforgettable and unique experience. The artist is only playing for you, it’s wonderful.

Muriel: Meeting musicians is very special, inspiring and ethereal, like a breath of fresh air.

What do you like about living and working in Paris?

Jade: Paris is not only immensely beautiful, it’s also full of wonderful architecture and culture; there are so many exhibitions, concerts and shows. I’m also lucky enough to travel with my work, so I get to discover new places quite often.

Muriel: For me, the art and architecture are definitely second to none, but I also love Paris’ lovely bistros and cobbled streets.
